Men mostly played the powerful queen pieces in real estate for a long time. But now, women are stepping up, demanding a seat at the table, and asking for more support to become leaders in the game.
Even though women make up a massive part of the industry – 62% of real estate agents, to be exact! – they’re still missing out on many of the boss positions. Carla Hayes, a bigwig at Coldwell Banker Real Estate, says it’s high time to give women in real estate the power they deserve! The challenges women face in real estate are numerous.
Imagine having a kiddo hanging onto your leg while trying to close a massive deal on the house. That’s just one of the many challenges women in real estate face. On top of that, they’re working in an industry traditionally run by men.

Women in Real Estate Building a Powerful Network for Success
But here’s the good news: women with tons of experience share their war stories and excellent tips on building a more welcoming space for everyone. They say, “Hey, we’ve been there, and here’s how we can all win together!”
Lori Arnold isn’t your typical high-powered broker. Sure, she started young and climbed the ladder, but what struck her most was the loneliness at the top – there just weren’t many other women there. Now a successful owner herself, Lori is passionate about changing that. She knows the struggles firsthand – the long hours, the relentless drive, and the guilt that can gnaw at you when you’re a parent trying to do it all.
Lori gets it. She understands the societal messages that make us feel like failures if we can’t be superwoman at work and Mom of the Year at home. That’s why she champions other women. Instead of tearing each other down, Lori believes in building each other up and creating a support network where women can thrive.
Sheri Arnold, another powerhouse in real estate, has a different game plan. She’s built a team unlike any other – all women working together to crush it. It’s not just about quotas, though. Sheri thrives on collaboration’s power, creating a space where women feel like they truly belong. She knows women bring something unique to the table – they listen intently and connect with clients on a fundamental human level. It’s a strength to be celebrated.
Then there’s Talisa Bealum, a Black woman who’s carved her path in real estate. She gets it – being a woman, especially a woman of color, can have extra hurdles. But Talisa isn’t fazed. She’s all about self-belief; musclemen sometimes must work extra hard to build. The challenges she’s faced have only fueled her fire. Her message? Find your strength, ladies. Believe in what you bring because it’s a whole lot.
Leslee MacKenzie, another successful broker-owner, gets that village life. Her leadership team consists of strong women, many single moms who lean on each other like family. Leslee wants young women to see that and know you can crush your goals, even if the path isn’t right. Did you use to be a teacher, an accountant, or a rockstar barista? Those skills count! Here’s the thing Leslee says: believe in yourself. Don’t be shy about pursuing your desired job; trust you know and drive to nail it.
Speaking of believing in yourself, Leslee and Lori Arnold (remember the powerhouse broker from earlier?) are big on confident decision-making. Lori has a funny story about an art exhibit that changed her perspective. It’s all about saying “yes” to opportunities, even the scary ones. Because guess what? Growth comes from taking chances and learning from wins and flops alike. But hold on, Leslee chimes in, don’t be reckless! Think things through, weigh your options, and then make a confident choice. You’ve got this.
Lindi Braddock, another amazing woman in real estate, is all about taking charge. Take advantage of someone to hand you an opportunity; get it! But remember, it’s not just about you – put your clients first, go the extra mile for them, and they’ll love you for it. Talisa Bealum agrees that life throws curveballs, so be flexible. Change your mind and explore new options; it’s all part of the journey.
See a pattern here? These successful women are all about building each other up. They know that the whole real estate world wins. When women support each other, imagine a world with mentorship programs where experienced women guide rookies and supportive companies where everyone feels like they belong.
That’s the kind of future we should all be rooting for! By ditching the self-doubt and celebrating what each other brings to the table, women can smash those glass ceilings and become the leaders they deserve to be.
